"When I look back over my 80 years, Slough Refugee Support stands out as the highlight of my working life. It was there that I was part of a brilliant team with which we made a difference to somebody's life for the better every day that we were open. There are not many jobs where one can say that.

Sometimes it was just the tiniest creep forwards, and sometimes a major success, but I felt that something good was happening literally every day. It was highly challenging and often distressing, but, none-the-less the most rewarding work imaginable. I do hope that it feels like that now, as I am sure it does. 

The environment in which you work has generally got much harder than when I was there, especially the lack of any sympathy from authorities who are always looking for ways not to be helpful in a hostile environment. I think of you all often and wish you the rewarding work that I experienced.”
