SRS has a small staff team led by our Chief Executive, Taz Mohammed.
The staff underpin the work of our trained volunteers.
The Board of Trustees is re-elected annually by the charity’s members.
Chair of Trustees – Jean Kelly, MA, MCIPD
Trustees include a number of current and former users of the service, who themselves are refugees and who therefore have a deep understanding of needs. Sub-committees set policy and help the management team in areas including service standards, supporting fund raising, HR issues and maintaining facilities.
Working with a disadvantaged group which is rarely in the public eye for long means that SRS’s work itself is not frequently recognised. An exception to this, however, was in 2012 when the charity received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service – the equivalent of an MBE for voluntary groups.
